Throwback Thursdays always takes us to the Hiplife time machine; where we take our memories back into the days to recall some of the old Ghanaian Hiplife songs we enjoyed back then. Some of these songs seems not to fade away, and sounds as fresh as it was released just 3 days ago chaaalle. It has always been us choosing what we consider as the throwback for the week, and We therefore decided to give the LoudSoundGH family members the opportunity to request for what they would love to listen to; so we know they are getting what they actually wish for.

The requests coming in today from the Family members were just too much; and posting one track from the lots, will not be fair from our part. From now on, we prefer our family members to choose which oldskool they want us to post every thursday. Its another awesome Thursday again people! I know most of you get excited about Thursdays like I do because, it always takes us back into time to pull out some of the awesome songs we had playing on rotation few years ago. If you are part of our FACEBOOK Family, this wont be a surprise to you because we already announced that we are dropping something coming from Da Hammer’s maiden compilation album titled “Sounds Of Our Time”. This song is titled “Skillz” and featured Trigga and Nyega… I have not heard anything from Trigga for a while but Nyega changed his name to Delasi and still putting out head knocking Hip Hop songs out there! (www.delasimusic.com)

“Skillz” was the 7th track on the compilation album which I think was the only Hip Hop song on the whole compilation. As narrated by the Mantse (The Signature), these 2 rapper are the elites of the camp and are self made Hip Hop artistes. I know I was feeling this song those days but listening to it all over again recently, just made my jaw dropped!! Serious wordplay, style and delivery was packed in there!! I think Hammer’s beat takes you to that level and reveals you to yourself! Ladies and gentlemen, this is trigga and Nyega some years back!! Download mp3 below and dont forget to share too…

Throwback Thursday: Freddie Funkstone “Ride Da Punani”

First of all, we want to apologize for not dropping a throwback song last week. We had some few things to take care of. But its on today people! The instrumental for this song kept playing in my head the whole day so; I decided to drop it like its HOT! lol… He is one of the finest HipHop artistes in Ghana back in the days, and he goes by the name Freddie Funkstone. This song became most people’s favourite since when it was released and of course, was my favourite too!

From what we know, the name Freddie Funkstone was actually taken from the popular cartoons “The Flintstones” and the Hiplife Grandpapa also got Rockstone from Funkstone… Lot of history with the names right? Lol… To me, Ghanaian music  back in the days sounded more unique and it was something we could stand bold and say “We Own This”. Our rap style, choice of instrumentals and lyrics was 100% Ghanaian!

I don’t know if HipHop in Ghana has been modernized now or its taking a whole new trend recognized by the world… I guess this is something we can all debate about. Dont get me wrong though; HipHop in Ghana is growing and we have bunch of talented rappers holding on to it and making the best out of it. Now, this is HipHop few years back into time! Download mp3 below and watch the video too! Don’t forget to share…

Throwback Thursday: 2face “My Love” Ft VIP (Prod by JQ)

Yesterday’s hit is today’s classic!! Its a throwback Thursday and today’s edition is from 2face featuring the former VIP now VVIP; and this song is titled “My Love” produced by JQ a.k.a. The Bottle Breaker! I can boldly say this song was one of the most viral Nigeria – Ghana collaboration and I can say its the song that made VIP become a household name in Nigeria. The song was on Tubaba’s “Grass 2 Grace” album which was released somewhere around 2006!

2face does not stop making hits, and that is the case with VIP! Even though Promzy is no more part of the group, the brand VIP or VVIP is still relevant and serves the dream it started with. Vision is definitely still in progress! 2face is still doing great in the music scene and still taking Africa to even higher heights! He released an album just recently titled “The Ascension” which is already penetrating the Billboard charts and rated as the most bought album on iTunes in Nigeria!

VVIP also went through a bit of re-branding but did not affect the quality of their music and how they express themselves musically. Their first single as VVIP is “Selfie” and the recent one is “Book Of Hiplife“… These 2 songs are doing great and its beyond what most people expected from them. They are also getting ready to drop the remix for “Selfie” which features Hollywood actor; Idris Elba… this song is Approximately 8 years and you can tell it got so much life in it! If you missed this song, get it on your playlist! Download mp3 below and share!

Taking You On a “Tempo” by Samini Featuring Mugeez for a Throw Back Thursday:

Have you noticed anytime Samini and Mugeez gets on a song, it becomes magical? I dont really know how many collaborations they did, but as much I can remember, “Tempo” and “Trigga” (refix) were the most amazing collaborations in the history of Ghana music. I believe this is because they are versatile and very much creative, as well as got too much passion for what they do! I am yet to discover the person who never loved this song… LOL…

Kaywa was amazing with the instrumentals and his switch in the tempo is something that keeps calling the inner you out! This song got me possessed to the extent that I hear it playing in my head even when I am playing it… I know most people can relate! Its a throw back Thursday a.k.a. #TBT; so I decided to drop this one to get your past excitements re-activated! I know this songs will bring so much memories as well… “We Take this song do THINGS“!!! Throw Back: Triple M “Girls Girls” (Boys Boys Refix)

Who thought these girls will someday dissolve or fade away?! Triple M were the hottest female group in the music scene back then! I wished I knew where these girls are and how their private life looks like now. I have no doubt they are probably mothers and wives with a whole new vision and plans for the future. These were the only girls who did a refix to one of Okomfuor Kwade’s song; “Boys Boys” featuring Atongo.

Okumfuor Kwadee was ruling the game those days and all his releases including this one was way more than a street anthem!! Apart from Mzbel and Abrewa Nana, these girls were the most promising female artists in the country. Too bad the center could not hold and they had to pursue other dreams… They may not be a group again, but their voices made a mark and will always be with us! Taking you back people! Triple M with “Girls Girls”… Enjoy and share…

Throw Back: Okomfour Kwadee “P1” Prod by Nature

I started listening to some of Okomfour Kwadee’s classics since last week and I just cant have enough of those banging songs!! I decided to pick out a personal favourite that kracks me up anytime I listen, no matter the number of times I put it on rotation. This song is entitled “P1” (Primary One) and was produced by Nature. Okomfour is a living legend even though there are a few things holding his career back. Talk about valuable lyrics converted into story telling, and Okomfour cant be compared to any other rapper ever existed in the Ghanaian music scene.

This song is actually a campaign song to encourage the youth to go to school, and also talks about the girl child’s right in the society. Okomfour Kwaadee told a beautiful story about how he started primary 1 to the Junior secondary school, but could not make it because of his waywardness. The best moments in the school always kracks me up especially when he spoke about having in possession some leaked exam questions which actually appeared at the final exams but could not pass the exams upon all that!! You can relate to that if you passed through the Ghanaian education system. Soak this classic and tell me who raps better than him in recent times!!??

By special request, our throw back music for today is a monster hit track from Samini years back. This is the remix version of the song “odo” which means love. As the Valentine day approaches, many of our fans as well us our team find it appropriate to drop this classic which actually talks about what love entails. This song is more like an advise to all lovers who overlook the real meaning of love but focuses on the side attractions.

In this song, Samini told us to give love back those who show us real love. We should love for the real reasons and not because of money and other material things. This music also tells us not to take advantage of people who show us real love. We should not make them cry or make them feel like they are not loved. I think this song is just the perfect song to celebrate the valentine with. Download below and share the love.

Its a new Thursday but we always decide to take you back into time to experience some of our hit bangers once again. This one is from the legendary duo; 2Toff a.k.a. 2toff America a.k.a. 2Toff Abrokyie and this is titled “Ye Na Bra” featuring Castro. If I am not mistaking, this song was self produced. The chorus was sang by our favourite Castro and this was sang with so much passion! This song was the hottest back in the days and for it to have a High-Life twist mixed with the rap, got many listeners both young and old dancing to this song!

The song basically spoke about missing a loved one who is not around. To cut a long story short, its about telling that special someone how much she is missed and reminiscing what they used to do when she is home. If you could not rap all the lines, the chorus is something you cannot miss! Castro is a legend and his legacy still lives on! We do pray he shows up one day. Download this classic and enjoy.

Its another Thursday and its time to ride on the time machine to remember the hits of our time. This music is called “Sikilitele” by 4X4 featuring Castro and was produced by JQ. Since 4×4 appeared in the music scene, they made us have the feeling they are the modernized version of Buk Bak and that they proved by putting more “Yo Yo” and very catchy songs we could not stop singing.

As much as I can remember, Buk Bak introduced 4×4 to Ghanaians and its something I know they would be proud they did. (May Ronnie Rest In Peace)… 4×4 has since become a household name and they have been with us and also been together as a group to date. One thing about the old hiplife songs is that, they seem not to get old; and any time I listen to them, I ask myself “Who dont they do remixes to these old songs?” People, this song was a monster hit and will always remain a classic! Download and enjoy!

Tinny takes us back into time today with the song “Dzormo” produced by Hammer of the Last 2. This song gave us hope and encouragement telling us God’s love for us and how he will always be there for us when we need him. Loud Sound Ghana dedicates this song to Tinny to keep him strong since he lost his Dad, Mr. Ricky Tetteh Quaynor about a week or 2 ago. This might be a very difficult time for him since his father is the only person who has been there for him since the beginning of his career.

Tinny shared a couple of emotional messages on his social media pages since he lost his Dad and most of us can relate to how he feels at this moment. Tinny has been in the music scene for a very long time and 80% of his songs got his father’s name in it. That should even tell you the role he played in Tinny’s private life and musical career as well. Ghana, lets support Tinny and say prayer to God to keep him strong during his hard times. Throw Back: Stonebwoy — Rat Race (Prod by JMJ)

Today’s throw back music is from the artist of the year; Stonebwoy Burniton!! This song is one of my all time favourites from Stonebwoy and it was done when he was under the High Grade Family label formerly known as Samini Music. This song is titled “Rat Race” and was produced by JMJ. Listening to this song again tells me Stonebwoy is the “Highlander” of Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall scene because, his songs never get old! Is there a song from Stonebwoy no one likes? I bet there isn’t anything like that in his musical records.

“Rat Race” was a song we could relate to from word to word because back in the days, our girlfriends really gave us tough times before we finally win their heart. LOL (I dont know about now though ) Stonebwoy’s passion for making music is always felt in his lyrics and makes a positive impact whenever you listen to him… After all these years, his hard work has finally been rewarded by crowning him artist of the year at the Ghana Music Awards… Once again we say Congratulations to Stonebwoy and we expect more power bangers from him. Lets to you back to this old classic! Dont forget to share…

Throwback: Mad Fish — Yahooya (Ft. Samini) prod by JQ

A lot of people might have forgotten about the massive impact this song made, but I have not! Today’s throw back music is from Mad Fish titled “Yahooya” featuring Samini; known as Batman back then… Mad Fish released the original version of this song and it was doing well but it took over the airwaves when we got hit by the remix featuring Samini. JQ produced this song back then and if you listen to the song now, you can still feel the originality and its worth!

Unfortunately, I have forgotten the name of the artist who sang the powerful chorus; but that does not stop us from enjoying the classic banger. LOL… Sometimes I keep asking myself if these artists were able to make power hits like this one, why are they out of the game. It sure could not be because they are irrelevant now because, this song does not sound too different from what we are hearing now. The only difference is that, this one is more Ghanaian with popular Ghanaian instruments. Aside Samini and few others, the rest seems to hold back totally. I hope they pop back soon! Download the banger below and share…

Nsiah Piesie — Police Abaa (Ft. Yoggie Doggie)

When we talk about the most popular songs back in the days, Nana Nsiah Piesie’s “Police Abaa” featuring Yoggie Doggie can never be left out! Today, we bring this back to you and we believe it will make you start recalling the the good old days in the music scene! It got to a point, this song was used to tease the Ghana Police service even though it has nothing to do with them. I even heard rumours the song was at the edge of getting banned. The term “Kpoti” or “Akonti” was actually inspired by this banger right here. (Ask your father if you have never heard this song before)

Yoggie Doggie’s appearance on the track took the song to a whole new level! You will know the Ghanaian way of Dancehall or Ragga was something we totally owned and was not done in any part of the world. Since Reggie Rockstone localized Hip Hop, most genres were getting localized through that. Dancehall, Reggae, RnB, Soul, etc were all sounding Ghanaian, and you could easily tell its a song from a Ghanaian artist. “Police Abaa” is a High-Life song hyped by Ghanaian Ragga! I know you miss this banger so take it and share!

I usually do this every Thursday because this is the day I pull out me old skool archive and listen to all the greatest hits back in the days. I found myself putting Samini’s “Where My Baby Dey” on repeat; so I decided to share for us all to enjoy and pass on to our friends to make the Throw Back Thursday worth it. This song was on one of Samini’s top selling albums; “Dagaati” and this was produced by Kaywa.

I dont have to start those my long stories about how good songs never fades out and they still sound fresh every year and will always remain a classic… ETC. You should know songs as this one and other many songs from Samini still got heat and power to date. This song always reminds me of how talented the African Dancehall King  is and how long he has been in this game. I cant be sure when the album was released, but I can say it was around 2006 there about. This is a throw back people!!! Enjoy!

This is a very special request and we are happy we are able to grant this! This is a song from an artist known as Sony Achiba a.k.a. The Indian Man! This song is from his album “Indian Ocean 1 & 2” released around 2007 and this song is titled “Nipa Boniayefour” which literally means “Ungrateful Person”. When Hip Life was the main Genre back in the days, lots of artists made “Sub Genres” from it. Some even called their sub-genre Hip-Cont but the India Man called his Hip-Dia which is a combination of Hip Life and India.

Sony Achiba surprisingly became almost everyone’s favourite when he introduced his “New Style”. His videos were all fun to watch as he displayed the Indian dance and wore Indian traditional wears. When you watch his videos, what you see is a Hindi Movie! I wonder where he is now and what he has been up to all these years. We did enjoy his songs and the art attached to it. Maybe he is in India enjoying himself… LOL Download below and share with someone who misses this song as well!!

Throw Back: Kwaw Kese — Ma Kwan (Ft. Edem) Prod by Hammer

Today’s throw back will refresh your memory and also remind you of the peculiar trend of music Ghanaians had some years ago. This song is called “Ma Kwan” by Kwaw Kese featuring Edem and was produced by Hammer of the Last 2. Some of us did know nothing can be more than this stage of Hip-Life after the unbelievable transformation Hip-Life had when Hammer introduced his rhythms and top notched production skills. After the “Hammer” era, the heat kept dropping and now we dont have an original Ghanaian Hip-Hop which we can boldly call ours.

This is the Era when Hammer influenced a lot of producers in the country and across Africa. His sounds were exclusive (His sounds are still exclusive) and you feel the song inside you! Rappers be like “Chale Give Me The Hammer Kind Of Beat“… Kwaw Kese and Edem did kill this beat as they always do on any instrumental produced by Hammer. Ok let me confess… I was addicted to this song!!! My close friends know this! If you loved this song, then we are probably on the same line… Download and share. “Abi You Dey Blaze… Koti Go Dey Chase

Blackstone — Befi Mano (Throw Back Thursday)

Today’s throwback is a request from a very cherished Loud Sound Ghana family member and its a song from a group back in the days known as Blackstone. Blackstone made their major breakthrough with “Befi Mano” and this song without any doubt was trending across the country and neighbouring countries too. The group BLACKSTONE was made of two guys namely Kawastone (Mohammed Abdul-Rashid Kawawa) and Flexx (Kamal Aryee Mudasiru). This was their maiden single which was released around 2000 (15 Years ago).

Kawastone who was a student at Tamale Secondary School (TAMASCO) joined up with his friend Flexx in the same school to become a group or duo. Its been so many years and we have not heard anything from them yet. I cant confirm if both decided to stop music or the group dissolved and that automatically ended it all. Anyways, good music still lasts for ages. After 15 years, it still sound awesome! Download below and share…
